Introduction

In todays modern society, the INTERNET has become a part of everyday life.

• In industry the internet has become a new medium for advertising, communicating and as a point of sale (e-commerce).
• At schools the internet has become a source of information.
• And at home the internet provides many different forms of entertainment.

This world wide network essentually uses the telecommunication backbone network to interconnect and communicate.

The purpose of this document is to outline the methods and protocols used to achieve these interconnections. And in particular a program designed specifically to diagnose the connectivity of two points within the network.
